STOP BITCHING, BBDO/PROXIMITY RULES!

They say every dog has its day. And BBDO/Proximity outdid and out-howled themselves last Friday night in the biggest ever Gold haul in the history of the 4As Kancil Awards. For those thankless cynics out there keen on unleashing side farts about this, here are the facts:
- BBDO/Proximity won more than three times the Gold over the second ranked agency. Making them the undisputed, overwhelming top agency.
- ECD of BBDO/Proximity and Jury Chairman Ronald Ng does not vote; he was the Chief Facilitator, which to the uninitiated includes pouring sambar curry during the judges luncheon. Don’t beat a man who’s hands are tied.
Despite all these constraints, he shone like a beacon on Kancils night!
- All foreign judges, except one, were not part of a global networked agency. This is as non-partisan a jury as it gets.
ADOI spoke to Dr Paul Chan Tuck Hoong President and Co-Founder of HELP University College, this morning in Singapore. He is the BBDO/Proximity client which won the Golden Kancil and he adds:
“As a social business enterprise our staff and students are heavily engaged in community projects that promote ethical behaviour, individual quality living and community well-being. We are pleased and proud that we won the Golden Kancil for the Anti-Drink and Drive Campaign ‘Wheelchair’. This is principally the effort of the students who do this as part of the community leadership training.”

I must add that BBDO/Proximity’s Group Chief Executive Jennifer Chan, as 4As Creative Excellence Committee Head, and her team have worked tirelessly to make the Kancils in recent years the best ever. Take a bow Jennifer, I know you’ll make next year’s Ad Asia a walk in the park!
In a few days, BBDO/Proximity will prove yet once again that their clear victory was no fluke. Watch this space, ignore those cyber terrorists who shoot in the dark, and you’ll know who to trust.
As Leo Burnett’s Yasmin Ahmad says, “There a dark side to our business!”
The Game has Changed.
