The tragic death of Yasmin Ahmad, brought home to me again the importance of now.

How perfectly the “Just Do It” tagline from Nike sums up the lives of the creatively talented and gifted.
For Yasmin Ahmad and others, who look to have a limitless supply of creative energy, these three words become the song-sheet from which their lives are composed.
They are more than simply creative thinkers these are the creative doers. As I’ve mentioned before, Picasso created 20,000 pieces, Shakespeare 150 or so sonnets and Charles Darwin a staggering 119 additional papers, after dedicating his life’s energy to the Theory of Evolution.
It’s an irrevocable truth; productivity precedes greatness. Particularly, when we consider Yasmin Ahmad and her massive pool of work, as a writer, creative director and film director.
Therefore, if we’ve got an idea, a thought, a desire to learn, or do something new, just do it! Because (and without trying to sound morbid) tomorrow is sometimes too far away and in some instances may never come.
Mathew Bull, Global ECD, Lowe Worldwide once said “the difference between people and creative people is simply creative people actually make the ideas they have, happen”.
Yasmin Ahmad is an excellent example of what we can all achieve if we simply go and make our ideas happen.
As creative doers we have a responsibility to aim for and become the most energetic, inspiring, but ultimately productive people we will ever know. And in that small way pass on the spirit of Yasmin Ahmad to future generations, forever.
